Paper Iron Man Helmet

With the learnings from working on my boar head I decided it’s time for a new project.

For this project I got a high resolution model “from the Internet” and reduced its complexity with Blender. After that I unwrapped the model in Pepakura and started cutting the sheets of paper. I got into a flow where I would build while the machine was cutting and I felt decently efficient. For glueing I can highly recommend Tombow liquid glue as it is very nice to handle and becomes transparent when it’s fully cured.

In hindsight I’d probably reduce the complexity of the model even more: The jar, eyes and mouth had too many intricate details that were hell to assemble. The eyes are made from a transparent paper, so it would be possible to light them with LEDs at a later time.
