Brass Bookstand

My first smaller experiments showed that my solder iron would be too weak for the task. Instead I got a more powerfull Leifheit burner that uses gas and produces precise and hot flame. For good measure I also bought pliers, solder grease and protective goggles.

Out of cardboard I built a prototype that had the exact stable shape I needed. I cut the brass parts to length and with the pliers and sometimes tape I held them in place so I could solder them. It was incredibly wonky and for my next project I’ll try to find different methods of doing this.

I’m happy with the result, though. It’s even sturdier that I thought and I like how it looks in my shelf.
