Night Train to Genoa

13th of September I hopped on the ÖBB Nightjet to Genoa. My ultimate goal was to travel to Lisbon, if possible entirely by train and with as little pre-planning as possible. I love the idea of going to sleep in one country and waking up in another. And it was the perfect day to leave Vienna.

After a 15 minutes walk I checked into my room at “Affittacamere La Città Vecchia” right in the old town of Genoa. The room was clean and spacious, but the place was run like an AirBnB: WhatsApp some number, somebody passes by to do the checkin and then you’re left to yourself.

The old harbour and the buildings are an absolute gem - tainted only by the highway bridge cutting right through it.

I ventured East to see the beach and made my way back to the city centre.

The beautiful streets and courtyards of the old town.

I walked over to Albergo dei Poveri and took a breather while looking down towards the sea.

The Castello Bruzzo was my last stop before finally falling into my bed.

I clocked 30.369 steps and 22,48km of walking.
