Lisbon Day One: Bus Ride from Seville

I got up early and caught my Flixbus to Lisbon. Sadly there are hardly any trains going between Spain and Portugal so I had to resort to booking a bus. A German and an Austrian couple had a loud fight over reserved spots and despite being advertised as such, the bus had no WIFI. I found the whole experience exhausting and did nothing but reinforce my prejudice against this mode of transportation.

I arrived at the Lisbon train and bus station and went to the hotel (New Style Lisbon Hotel). It was the first big hotel I stayed in on this journey. They offered a well stocked breakfast room, 24 hour reception and absolutely sound proof rooms.

At around 16h I was finally showered and rested and ready to explore the city. I walked up the hill to Igreja da Graça (an abbey). A sign told me for a fee I could walk on the roof top and get a glass of wine - all I needed to hear! I was allowed to walk the halls of the abbey alone and made my way to the top. Incredible vistas and a good glass of wine. The perfect start for my last stop on this journey.

Like so many others I enjoyed the sunset and afterwards made my way back to the hotel. It felt like more, but that day I “only” walked 10.109 steps and 7,26km.
